Moonsplash Festival

The Beginning: Moonsplash Festival

The Moonsplash Festival first started over 20 years ago in 1991. Founded by internationally-acclaimed recording artist Bankie Banx and Sheriff Bob Saidenberg, it was first coined as a roving music festival with the first concerts being staged on Sandy Island, Pinel Cay off St. Martin and in St. Barths.

In 1995, the Moonsplash Festival finally settled at The Dune Preserve at Rendezvous Bay on Anguilla.

Since then, the Moonsplash Festival has established itself as the longest running music festival of its kind among the Eastern Caribbean islands and become THE stage for classic reggae acts and new and upcoming artists. Moonsplash brings together renown artistes and specially selected headline acts from all over the Caribbean for four fantastic, fun-filled moonlit nights of cool classic Caribbean reggae rhythms on the stunning Rendezvous Bay.

“Moonsplash is simple, with intimate performances in a natural setting… We don’t pick any particular genre – there’s folk, blues, reggae, some soul – just good music. It’s a magical thing”

Founder Bankie Banx

Over the years, some of the headliners have included the amazing Tarrus Riley, Duane Stephenson, Steel Pulse, Third World, Inner Circle, Buju Banton, Gregory Isaacs, Culture, Toots & The Maytals and many others. The Moonsplash Festival has also had its fair share of talented special guests which have included Jimmy Buffett, John Mayer and the fantastic Bacon Brothers.

The Moonsplash festival in Anguilla is the most unique Reggae Festival in the Caribbean, taking place each year under the first full moon in February, a scene from which its name originates. A great new addition to the Moonsplash Festival is the ‘Kidz-Splash’ – a special matinee performance for the children which takes place on Thursday afternoon.
